Cupertino, CA, November 16, 2007 — Ralink Technology Corporation, a leading developer of 802.11x chipsets, today announced that its 802.11n AP SoC and  iNIC (Intelligent Network Interface Card) RT2880 has received Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) certification from Sporton International Inc., a leading telecommunication mobile certification body and service provider recognized by the FCC, Notified Body, DGT and CTIA.

DFS is a recent FCC requirement for operation in the 5.3 GHz and newly-available 5.4 GHz bands. It shifts client and access point radios to a different channel if it detects a radar transmission, and will automatically adjust the strength of the radio signal to increase or decrease the coverage area.

RT2880 is Ralink’s 802.11n APSoC/iNIC (System on Chip Intelligent Network Interface Card) with a built in MIPs processor to enable total wireless LAN offload from the host CPU. Now with DFS capabilities it allows Ralink’s customers to build Access points/router designs, Broadband platforms, Ethernet to Wi-Fi bridges and Dual band concurrent routers without limitation in the 5GHz frequency band.

“We chose Sporton because of their renowned international DFS testing capabilities and world class testing facilities best suited for networking products”, said Rick Jeng, president of Ralink Technology. “The DFS certification is another testament to our commitment in the worldwide regulatory capability complying with DFS in the 802.11n chipset development that enables our customers to use any portion of the unlicensed 5 GHz using a single radio”.

“We congratulate Ralink Technology for achieving international DFS certification for RT2880” said Leo Huang, Manager of EMC & SAFET Group at Sporton International Inc., “Ralink’s 802.11n chip meets the worldwide DFS capability requirements”.

The RT2880 is undergoing FCC certification and expects to receive the certification in January 2008. For more information please visit  www.ralinktech.com
